NUSDSC Event: "Freedom of Speech - How Far Can You Go?"

Disclaimer: I am not in anyway affliated to the NUS Democratic Socialist Club. I just thought that I should provide some free publicity for them for this interesting-looking event which they are organising (and which I got to know of from their website).

What follows below is a copy-and-paste version of the announcement about the event on the NUSDSC homepage (thus, any spellling and/or grammatical mistakes are solely theirs):

Freedom of Speech - How far can u go?

Date: 3 Feb 2007 (Sat)
Time: 9.30am - 1.30pm
Venue: To be confirmed

Have u ever held back what u wanted to blog down because of the fear that u will be caught for infringement of legal boundaries? Do u wish to know more about what a politician is not supposed to say? Do you think our local press is being overly conservative? Here's the chance to find out more!

This interactive seminar aims to increase the awareness of the legal boundaries in the expression of views in 1)the political scene, 2)the media coverage and 3)blogs & online forums.

We will be inviting numerous well-known politicians, journalists, lecturers and bloggers to share and discuss on their insights on this topic.

If you are interested to spend a fruitful saturday at this event, pls leave down your particulars at nusdsc@hotmail.com. Refreshments will be provided.

We look forward to seeing u that day!

Note: For those who are not from NUS, I am not certain about whether this seminar will be open to the public or only to the students & staff of NUS, so if any of you all are interested in attending this seminar but are not from NUS, I will advise you all to personally email the NUSDSC to check...

P.S. 11/1/2007
According to the reply I just received from the NUSDSC, the above seminar will be open to the public. Thus, I suppose those amongst you all who are interested in the above seminar but are not from NUS should be able to attend it.
