"Physical breach" = Toilet Windows Without Bars?

A few days back, Mr. Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home affairs, revealed that there was a "physical breach" at the Whitley Detention Centre that allowed Mas Selamat to escape.

He, however, did not elaborate on what this "physical breach" was and thus left people wondering about what exactly was the "physical breach" that allowed Mas Selamat to escape.

Well, if we are to believe what MM Lee said to the local media in an interview regarding the escape of Mas Selamat, it would seem that the "physical breach" at the detention centre would be that the toilet windows at the dentention centre did not have bars, hence allowing Mas Selamat to escape.

Specifically, this was what MM Lee said: "But he had the custodian sized up, he had the custodian feeling comfortable that he can go to the toilet where there are no bars in the windows, and he got through. Very smart fellow. So we are dealing with a smart man". (emphasis mine)

Of course, this perhaps only explains how Mas Selamat managed to get out of the toilet without being noticed, it still does not explain how he managed to get out of the detention centre compound without being noticed.

Guess we all just have to wait patiently for the report by the "independent" commission of inquiry tasked to look into Mas Selamat's escape to find out the answer to the question of: "how did he manage to escape?"
