Post No. 1: Why I Started This Blog

Hello to all! First things first... I know it's only CNY eve today but since I most probably won't be logging on tomorrow...

Well, I suppose most of you all never expected me to start my own blog... To tell you all the truth, I didn't expect myself to do so either; been considering the idea for quite long, the idea almost died before it got born...

Ok, I think I should explain to you all why I started this blog...

1. I suppose, like most people who blog or write (in fact,similar to most people in general), there exists the hidden desire in me to want to be recognised i.e. the desire to be famous...

Well, Fame is seductive... Cicero said that even those who argues against Fame still want the books they write against it to bear their name in the title and hope to be famous for depising it.

However, while Fame has its perks, it also has its downside... When you are famous in any way, it is my opinion that you'll find it difficult to have quality time for yourself (something the introverted me wouldn't like)...

Also, your every action & decision would most likely be judged by people, positively or negatively... While you may need not pay heed to them, they would still annoy & affect you to a certain extent. 人言可畏。。。

Yeah, I know it seems like I'm arguing against Fame but yet I claim to desire it still... Seems contradictory, right? Well, a little bit of recognition would be good enough for me... Recognition and Fame, to me, are 2 different things... You can be recognised but not famous...

2. To those who know me well, they would know that I sometimes write for leisure... Something which I don't really publicise much as I saw little literary value in most of what I write... This results in me accumulating quite a store of writings over the years, some of which I have shared with those close to me...

Well, just thought that I should share some of my past & future writings with more people and a blog seemed to me a perfect avenue to do so... However, like I mentioned above, not all of my works are note-worthy...

3. Considering that one don't get to exercise one's mind critically while "serving the nation", I suppose this blog is an attempt by me not let my mind become stagnant...

In conclusion, I would like to notify you all that I would not be posting everyday, considering that I still have to "serve my nation" for another 1 year & 2 months more and that inspiration doesn't strike me everyday... Also, some of my works may not be that original, considering that there exists so many great thinkers & writers, dead and alive, out there, it's quite inevitable some of my works would echo theirs... Which writer & thinker haven't stood on the shoulders of giants before? And, oh yeah, please pardon my long-winded/ponderous style of writing, it's just my style of presenting my ideas...

Ok, I typed enough for one day & I suppose you all also read enough... Oh yeah, almost forgot, I'll be leaving for India for overseas training from 11/2-2/3... Sian... less "hongbao money" to collect...
